Amarillo Sky is a song by American country singer Jason Aldin , released June 26, 2006 as the 3rd single from his first studio album, Jason Aldean (2005). The song was written by Big Kenny, Rodney Clauson, Vicki McGee, Bart Pursley and John Rich (from Big & Rich and Lonestar ). The producer was Michael Knox . The single reached number four on the Country Chart Hot Country Songs [1] . The song was welcomed by the audience, became popular and in 2006 received two Academy of Country Music nominations at the Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony in the Video of the Year and Song of the Year categories, and was also nominated by the country television network for the CMT Music Awards ( Country Music Television ) [2] . The single has been certified in the platinum status of the RIAA [3] .
