Atran is a Russian cargo airline, a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies [1] .

Description
It was founded in 1942 under the name "Moscow Aviation Enterprise", engaged in the transportation of parts for aircraft manufacturers. Since 1969, the company’s hub is Domodedovo . In the mid-80s, the company changed its name to the Transport Aviation Association. The fleet totaled 29 transport aircraft delivering goods throughout the USSR .
In June 1990, the USSR government ordered the separation of Transport Aviation from the structure of Aeroflot . Thus, it became the first independent airline in the USSR with its own Aviatrans brand.
In 1993, she passed into private hands and was reorganized into a limited liability company. 73% of the rights belong to employees of the company, 25% to the state of Russia and 2% to public holdings [2] . On January 1, 1997, it again changed its name to Atran - Aviatrans Cargo Lines. In 1998, the company received the Wings of Russia-97 award, becoming the second best air cargo carrier in the country [3] .
On July 29, 2007, the An-12B aircraft (RA-93912 number), owned by the company, was involved in a plane crash due to the failure of two engines on take-off due to the entry of birds. The crew could not deploy and land the plane, killing seven people [4] .
In 2011, it became part of the Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies .
Currently, the airline's fleet consists of four medium-range Boeing 737-400SF aircraft and one B-737-800BCF aircraft [5] .
