Foundation

The magazine "Literary Azerbaijan" was founded in 1931, immediately after the establishment of the Union of Writers of the USSR . After the creation of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan in 1934, the journal became its organ. The task of the journal was as follows: publish literary works, criticism and journalism of local authors writing in Russian, in addition, works of classics and modern writers of Azerbaijan translated into Russian. For more than 30 years, the magazine was headed by a writer, a war veteran, an honored art worker of Azerbaijan, I. P. Tretyakov.
