Cargill Cocoa Promise - launched in 2012, the international social program of the American food corporation Cargill , aimed at creating a sustainable cocoa supply system, improving the lives of poor cocoa farmers in developing countries, and supporting agricultural regions and the environment. The program is implemented in Indonesia , Vietnam , Brazil and the countries of Black Africa ( Côte d'Ivoire , Ghana , Cameroon ) in cooperation with various state and non-governmental organizations (including the International Finance Corporation and Swisscontact ). Cargill Cocoa Promise plans to enter the annual training of 80 thousand farmers and to supply 120 thousand metric tons of certified cocoa beans [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] .
The Cargill Cocoa Promise program includes long-term investments in the sustainable future of the cocoa sector, providing small farmers with low-cost technologies that can increase the yield and quality of cocoa, teaching farmers modern agricultural practices through the Cargill Coop Academy and the Cargill's Farmer Field Schools network, and farmer certification (UTZ Certified) , the organization of cooperatives and trade unions capable of upholding the interests of farmers at the regional and state levels, improving the quality of soil after harvesting, promoting products worldwide ynki to achieve a fair price, the development of infrastructure in the cocoa growing areas (including education and health). Product certification helps raise industry standards and provide small incentives to small farmers. By growing cocoa beans according to Cargill's environmental standards, small farmers receive guaranteed product purchase contracts and premium payments [2] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] .
The ultimate goal of the Cargill Cocoa Promise program is to reduce poverty among smallholder farmers in developing countries, increase food security and protect the environment.
