Biography
Born in Moscow in the family of a veterinarian. In 1856, he graduated from the 1st Moscow Gymnasium with a gold medal, and in 1860 - from Moscow University . Since 1865 - Professor of the Imperial Moscow Technical School (IMTU) and at the same time (since 1869) - Professor of Moscow University. The name of Dmitry Lebedev is connected with the beginning of the formation of the course of resistance of materials in IMTU.
He was buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery (13th school).
Proceedings
His main works are devoted to the study of the dynamics of locomotives [1] .
His master's thesis (1867) was the first work in Russia devoted to the theory of oscillations of the suspended part of a locomotive [2] [3] .
D. N. Lebedev developed the theory and calculation of wire ropes during their tension, as well as a method for calculating the strength and rigidity of multi- shaft shafts . Gave the definition of various types of oscillations of a locomotive , indicated ways to increase its stability.
