Biography
He started practicing athletics in his native Ryazan with N. Krasavina [1] . He achieved his first successes under the leadership of Nina Vasilyevna Ilyushina, by the age of 20 he reached the level of 2.20 m of results and regularly participated in the finals of the national championship. In 2002, he made serious progress, setting a personal record of 2.30 m at the Christmas Cup in Moscow. The most successful for Mikhail was the next season, in which he won the title of the winter champion of the country , having conquered the bar at a height of 2.28 m. Thanks to this success, he managed to get into the team for the indoor world championship in Birmingham, UK. Speech at the world championship was unsuccessful, Michael could not qualify. In the summer he became the second in the national championship and went to Paris for the world championship . In the French capital, Tsvetkov reached the final, where he claimed a medal, but with a result of 2.29 m remained in fourth place.
In early 2004, at the international match in Glasgow, Scotland, he suffered an ankle injury, which became chronic in the following years. The recovery took 2 years, after which Mikhail reiterated his personal record of 2.30 m. However, he failed to complete the treatment successfully until the end, the injury constantly reminded of itself. Until 2010, Tsvetkov regularly turned out to be near the pedestal at Russian competitions, but it was not possible to make a step forward. By this time he had already moved to St. Petersburg and was training under the guidance of Igor Gruznov. In the winter of 2011, he again managed a jump of 2.30 meters, but already at the next start there was a relapse injury. This case forced Michael to decide on the end of his career.
For the next 2 years, he worked as deputy director for sports at the Specialized Sports School No. 1 of the Nevsky District of St. Petersburg, then for some time there was engaged in coaching activities. In 2014, he returned to training activities, preparing under the guidance of his wife Anastasia Salenek [2] . The return was unexpectedly successful. On May 29, 2015, 35-year-old Mikhail Tsvetkov won the Russian team championship with a result of 2.28 m, leaving behind many titled rivals [3] .

A graduate of the Ryazan Polytechnic Institute.
He is married to the master of sports in the hurdles Anastasia Salenek, has two children.
