History

The construction of the temple began in 1912 by the artel of craftsmen invited from Perm [5] . Funds for the construction were collected by the peasants of Turnaevo and neighboring villages (about 12 thousand rubles), another 4 thousand rubles were allocated by the Holy Synod . The material for the stone foundation was brought from limestone quarries in the territory of the modern Iskitim district , and the church building itself was built from acquired pine logs brought from Taiga station . For construction, selected pine with a diameter of 25 centimeters was used [2] . The Seraphim Church, like the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord on the island of Kizhi, was built, according to legend, without a single nail [6] , which is called into question [2] . Tomsk, Kuznetsk, Altai merchants and industrialists donated to decorate the temple. September 1 (14), 1914 the temple was consecrated .

The first rector of the temple was Alexander Zlobin, a former engineer-traveler who took an active part in its construction [2] . With the blessing of the Archbishop of Tomsk and Altai Makarii (Nevsky), he enrolled in distance learning at the Tomsk Theological Seminary , and in 1914 he was ordained a priest.

In the 1920s, the temple passed to the Renovationists (there is a mistaken opinion that the Seraphim Church was the only " Tikhonov " church in the Bolotninsky district) [5] .

The temple was closed by order of the Novosibirsk Oblast Executive Committee on April 9, 1940 . The building was used as a granary , and then as a club.

For the restoration of the temple in 1988, its measurement was performed by the Novosibirsk architect S. N. Bogomazova, but due to lack of funding, work was not started. By the decision of the Novosibirsk Oblast Executive Committee of January 19, 1989, the church was transferred to the Novosibirsk Diocese . July 18, 1990 the church was taken under protection as a monument of local architecture .

Since 1996, the Christians of the area began to establish a spiritual life [7] . The first prayer service in the Seraphim Church was served on the feast day on August 1, 1998 . On the same day, a mass baptism of villagers (over 70 people) took place. On July 12, 2000, the first liturgy was celebrated in the church from the moment it was closed [7] . On the same year, July 31, the first procession of the cross took place from the city of Bolotnoye to the village of Turnaevo, now performed annually with the participation of pilgrims from the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo and Tomsk regions [8] .

The restoration of the temple began in 2000. According to experts, in 1999 the destruction of the church amounted to more than 50 percent [9] .

In 2003-2009, the following repair and restoration work was carried out:

  • change of crowns in the refectory, catholicon and apse;
