The 2004 European Winter Throwing Challenge took place on March 13-14 at the St. John Stadium in Mars , Malta . This was the fourth draw of the tournament and the last, held under the name of the European Challenge . Starting next year, he became known as the European Cup in winter throwing . The tournament program included shot put , discus throw , hammer throw and javelin throw . 2 team trophies were played, among men and women. The competition was attended by 147 throwers from 27 European countries.

Each country could exhibit up to 2 people in each discipline. Both results in each type of throwing counted for the team, after which they were transferred to points using the IAAF International Results Translation Table. The winners and prize-winners in the team standings were determined by the sum of the points received.
