Geography
Mountain Village is located on the banks of the Yukon River . The area of the city is 11.3 km².
History
The city was incorporated on December 20, 1967 [3] .
Population
According to the 2000 census, the population of the city was 755 people [4] . Racial Composition: Native Americans - 90.46%; white - 6.36%; residents of the Pacific Islands - 0.13% and representatives of two or more races - 3.05%.
Of the 183 households, 56.8% raised children under the age of 18 years, 46.4% were married couples living together, in 21.3% of the families women lived without husbands, 19.7% did not have a family. 17.5% of the total number of households at the time of the census lived independently, while 1.6% were single elderly people aged 65 years and older. On average, 4.13 people conduct households, and the average family size is 4.69 people.
The proportion of people under the age of 18 is 42.4%; persons aged 18 to 24 years - 9.9%; from 25 to 44 years old - 29.3%; from 45 to 64 years old - 13.5% and persons over 65 years old - 4.9%. The average age of the population is 23 years. For every 100 females there are 97.1 males; for every 100 females age 18 and over, 96.8 males.
Average income on a joint venture - $ 31,250; median household income is $ 30,000. Median per capita income is $ 9,653. About 21.1% of families and 22.2% of the population live below the poverty line, including 30.1% of people under the age of 18 and 0% of people over 65.
