Walnut House ("Gorikhovy dim") is a social bakery located in Lviv . It was founded in July 2011 on the basis of the public organization “Narodnaya Podopomoga” (“Narodnaya Pomoshch”), and now acts as a separate company. It makes cookies according to Ukrainian, Italian and German recipes, cheesecakes, rolls, bagels and other muffins. The bakery directs the proceeds from the sale of pastries to the needs of the Lviv Crisis Integration Center for Women, which helps women who, for various reasons, find themselves on the street (12 women live in the center created for grants) [1] [2] [3] [ 4] [5] [6] [7] [8] .

In the production, the bakery does not use dyes, flavors and emulsifiers, seeking to reach the level of organic products , therefore its products are more expensive than similar products of large bakeries. Initially, the customers of the bakery were local cafes and pastry shops, then the sale of products to shops was established (part of the bakers bakers are sold in the clothing factory, where the bakery rents premises). Over time, the bakery opened its own outlet in the Market Square , near the Bandinelli Palace , and also organized the delivery of cookies to the house. Shortly after the opening, the Walnut House bakery reached the level of profitability [1] [9] [10] .
In addition to the crisis center for women, the bakery also supports another project of the public organization People's Assistance - Social Taxi (passenger transportation of disabled people and other people with disabilities). On the basis of the “Narodnaya Pomoshch” bakery, it provides training for women undergoing social rehabilitation after domestic violence or vagrancy (at the request of women, they can also work in the bakery, helping professional bakers) [2] .
