The 2011 European Winter Throwing Cup was held March 19–20 in Sofia , the capital of Bulgaria . Competitions were held at the main stadium and throwing field of the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" . The tournament program included shot put , discus throw , hammer throw and javelin throw . 4 team Cups were played: among men and women in the absolute age category and among youth under 23 years of age (born in 1989 and younger). The competition was attended by 248 throwers from 33 European countries.

Each country could expose up to 2 people in each discipline among adults and one among young people. The team scored the best result in each type of throwing, after which it was transferred to points using the IAAF International Results Translation Table. The winners and prize-winners in the team standings of the Cup were determined by the sum of the points received.
