History
The church was built according to the design of the architect S. F. Voskresensky in 1912 adjacent to the city slaughterhouses and the village of Dubrovka. Believers donated money for construction. The temple was built in the Russian style, in terms of the building consists of a powerful rectangular quadrangle and three large semicircular apses adjoining it on the east side. The church was crowned with an octagon with a high elegant tent and dominated the area. In the side apses were located side-alarms . In the north - Saints Cosmas and Damian, consecrated in 1912, in the south - George the Victorious and Andrei Bogolyubsky, consecrated in 1914. The main altar of the church was consecrated in 1915. The carved gilded iconostasis consisted of three tiers, its author was P. A. Sizov. The icons were written by V.P. Guryanov [2] [3] .
In 1917 (according to other sources in 1935), the church was closed, and a factory was housed in the building. The decor of the facades was destroyed, new windows were cut, the internal volume was divided into floors. Only the division of the walls preserved on the facades with wide pilasters indicated the location of the inner pillars. In the mid-1950s, the former church occupied the Electron defense plant. The last organization that was located here before the return of the church of the Russian Orthodox Church was the bank [2] [3] .
Currently, the church is active, work is underway to restore the building. In 1996, the Patriarchal Compound was opened at the church. Only in 1999 the services were restored. Since 2006, the temple is also the compound of Holy Cross Jerusalem Jerusalem Stavropegic monastery [3] .
