Living goods

Living Goods is an American nonprofit organization based in Uganda , Kenya and Myanmar (headquartered in San Francisco ). Founded by Chuck Slogter in 2007. The main goal of Living Goods is to develop a stable distribution platform for goods that contribute to the fight against poverty and disease in developing countries. The organization manages networks of independent entrepreneurs (mainly women) who earn their living by selling drugs and medical supplies to the poor. The direct sales model is partly borrowed by Living Goods from Avon Products , Amway , Tupperware and other similar companies. The organization seeks to achieve full self-sufficiency [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] .

Living Goods sales programs are aimed at reducing child mortality, saving the means of poor families who care for the sick and use basic necessities, create jobs among small entrepreneurs, increase access to innovative products, have a large impact on the social environment and the fight against counterfeit medicines. Prices for some Living Goods products are below the market average by 50%. Independent Living Goods agents receive from the organization training, a license to use the brand, a loan for products at below-market prices, a uniform and a phone with the application installed (through this mobile application developed with the help of Cisco Systems , Living Goods not only monitors sales, supplies and inventory, but also advises its agents and patients from among clients). Living Goods supports its agents through a network of warehouse offices. For each agent there are about 700 clients [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] .

The main products that Living Goods sells are low-cost medicines for malaria, diarrhea, worms, respiratory infections and sepsis, baby medications and antibiotics from small companies that can't spend on advertising and large-scale distribution, condoms, birth control pills, vitamins, diapers, sanitary pads, solar lanterns, home cooking stoves, fuel briquettes , water filters, mosquito nets [15] [16] .

Partners of Living Goods are BRAC (Bangladesh), Population Services International (USA) and Marie Stopes International (Great Britain). The organization’s sponsors and investors are Omidyar Network , Mulago Foundation , Jasmine Social Investments , Pershing Square Foundation , The Children's Investment Fund Foundation , Peery Foundation and many other funds.
