Content
Geographical position
The mountain is located at the junction of the Piedmont Dagestan and the Kumyk Plain , north of the Saimaash tract (from the Chechen, “Deer Horns”) [1] .
It is located southwest of the city of Khasavyurt , between the villages of Gamiyah (western slope) and Novochurty (eastern slope) [2] .
At the western foot of the mountain flows the Yamansu River (a tributary of the Aksai River).
Etymology
Translated from the Kumyk language, the word "eki tebe" means "two hills" [3] .
Geology
It is part of the Aktash syncline [4] .
Climate
The average annual temperature is +8 ° C, January –2 ° C, July –24 ° C [4] . Precipitation - 400-600 mm per year.
Soil
Soils - meadow carbonate. Slopes are highly susceptible to water erosion [4] . The humus content in the soil is average [4] .
Vegetation
At the foot - alluvial meadows, on the slopes and apex - dry foothill oak forests [4] . Rare plants are: Pushkinia scaphoid , true venus slipper [4] .
Fauna
Among large animals are not infrequent: raccoon , jackal [4] . A rare butterfly species is the small night peacock eye [4] .
