History

The Italian women's team played their first match on February 23, 1968 in the city of Viareggio against Czechoslovakia , but then there was no Italian women's football federation, which appeared on March 11 of the same year in the same city.

The national team played in almost all women's football tournaments, but they could not achieve success in any of them. Only in the European Championships in 1993 and 1997, the Italians were able to reach the final and lost to Norway and Germany, respectively.
