DPR license plates are license plates used for registering vehicles on the territory of the unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic .

Until 2015
After the proclamation of independence of Ukraine in 1991, car numbers of various national standards belonging to the Donetsk region were issued on the territory of the current DPR. After the change of power in Ukraine in 2014, the Donetsk People's Republic was proclaimed on the territory of the Donetsk region . In 2014–2015, self-made numbers other than Ukrainian ones began to appear on the territory of the DPR on cars.
Current numbers since 2015
Modern DNR numbers were officially presented on May 22, 2015 [1] , and on May 26, their issue began in Donetsk [2] . Gradually, other MREOs of the republic began to work on it: in Makeyevka , Shakhtersk , Yenakiyevo , Gorlovka, and Starobeshevo [3] .
In size, font and character order (1 letter, 3 numbers, 2 letters) they are similar to Russian with a two-digit region code, but do not have security holograms and mounting holes. The same 12 letters of the Russian Cyrillic alphabet with graphic analogs in the Latin alphabet - А , В , Е , К , М , Н , О , Р , С , Т , У and Х are allowed for use. Series try to produce in compliance with the alphabetical order: the main is the first letter, most often the third one changes. The very first one was issued series А-АА, in September 2017 the numbers with the first letter В appeared, in March 2019 the letter E. began.
The numbers issued from May to December 2015 (eight episodes from А-АА to А-АО), in the right part of the license plate, in the isolated quadrilateral, are located: in the lower part - the long flag of the Donetsk People's Republic , and in the upper part - the stamped large print unofficial republic code DPR ( En : Donetsk People's Republic). In December 2015, the symbolism changed: the flag began to be located in the upper part, became larger, with the correct proportions, and printed on the number plate with the factory seal. The DPR code has become flagged and is printed in a smaller font. Interestingly, all this time the flag on the number did not correspond to the official flag of the DPR , until in February 2018 the coat of arms and the name of the republic were removed from it.
February 18, 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the recognition of documents and license plates issued in the DPR and LPR [4] . The de facto cars registered there could have entered Russia before, but now it has become officially allowed without any possible restrictions caused by the unrecognized status of the republics.
As of May 1, 2019, at least 292 episodes of 999 numbers each [5] were issued, with the exception of the missed B-OP and B-YH series.
Other room types
In addition to rooms for cars, there are other types of numbers in the DPR:
- Transport numbers for passenger traffic
The numbers of the format coincide with the car, but are performed on a dark orange background.
- Motorcycle numbers
In appearance they are similar to the Russian ones, but the number of digits is reduced to three, and in the region code window - the DPR flag and the DPR code.
- Trailer and semi trailer numbers
In appearance, they are similar to motorcycle: square in shape, of the same size with letters. Format: three numbers, two letters.
- Non-technological vehicles
As of April 2019, the tractors and other special equipment are issued license plates, which are completely similar to the Ukrainian ones [6] . The only difference between them is that instead of the Donetsk region AH code, the combination of letters HP is used, which means [Donetsk] People's Republic. The format is five digits, meaning technological transport, the letter T and the HP code.
- Car license plates
Similarly to the Russian ones, they are performed with white symbols on a blue background, but in the format of “CTC bb”, where C is a digit, b is a letter. On the right, as on common civil car numbers, in a separate window are located the code and flag of the republic.
- Top management car numbers
Performed with black characters on a white background. The license plate contains only three digits, to the left of the digits in the full width of the plate is the DNR emblem , to the right - the DNR flag, also in the entire width.
