History

The Moscow Research and Design Institute of Typology, Experimental Design was established in 1951. The original name of the institute is the Special Architectural and Design Bureau (SAKB). The institute was tasked with developing model building projects for their accelerated construction with minimal costs.

Since 1965, the institute has been called the Moscow Institute of Model Design (MITEP), later it received the modern name.

Residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens were built according to the projects of the institute. Since 1951 in Moscow alone, about 500 schools, 820 kindergartens, 26,000 residential buildings have been built according to the projects of the institute.

Currently, the institute includes 7 architectural design workshops, architectural planning and scientific restoration workshops. It employs about 800 people.

In contrast to economical projects of 1950-1960 without architectural excesses, modern building designs are created taking into account architectural and planning requirements, world achievements in the field of construction.
