Career
Roger started playing football at the Vicente de Pelotas school, which was located near his house in Ausiliador in Porto Alegre . At the age of 15, he began playing on the futsal team at Piratini College. At the same time, he played on the Ausiliador team. June 30, 1992 Roger came to see the Gremio club, liked the coaching staff and began to speak for the youth team [1] . In 1993, Luis Felipe Scolari , Gremio's head coach, invited Roger to form the team. And in 1994, he debuted in the first team. There, the footballer played for 9 years, winning three cups and a national championship , five state championships , the Libertadores Cup and the South American Recop . Then he went to the Japanese Wissel Kobe for a year [2] [3] . Later he returned to Brazil, to the club Fluminense . [4] There he won another Brazil Cup, where in the finals with Figueirense he scored a decisive goal, bringing victory to his team [5] . In total, the football player spent 123 matches for the club and scored 10 goals [6] . Then the footballer signed a contract with DSC United , but being in the club for only 10 days, he was forced to end his career because of a discovered hernia in the lower back [7] .
Having completed his playing career, Roger began working as a coach at Gremio [8] . He was also the acting head coach of the club [9] . Then he began independent work, on February 20, 2014, heading the Juventude [10] . December 19, 2014 Roger led the club " Novo Amburgo " [11] [12] . May 26, 2015 appointed head coach of Gremio. The contract was signed until the end of 2015 [13] . November 19, 2015 extended the contract with Gremio until the end of 2017 [14] . On September 15, 2016, Gremio's leadership announced the dismissal of Mashado [15] .
On November 30, 2016 he was appointed head coach of Atletico Mineiro . The contract was signed for two years and entered into force on January 2017 [16] . On July 20, 2017, he was dismissed [17] .
On November 22, 2017, he was appointed head coach of Palmeiras . The contract was signed until the end of the 2018 season [18] . On July 25, 2018, he left Palmeiras after the end of the guest match of the 15th round of the Brazilian championship 2018, lost to Fluminense 0: 1 [19] .
Personal life
Roger is married. Wife - Camille Pasculotto, with whom they married in 1995. They have two daughters [20] .
