History
The Research and Design Institute for Nitrogen Industry and Organic Synthesis Products (GIAP) was established in 1943 by the merger of two organizations: the State Nitrogen Institute (GIA) and the State Institute for Nitrogen Production Design (GIPROAzot). Had a pilot plant. In 1949, the Severodonetsk branch was created. In 1953, the Dzerzhinsky branch was created. In 1954, the Kemerovo branch was created. In 1956, the Novomoskovsk branch was created. In 1959, the Chirchik branch was established. In 1973 the Grodno branch was created. In 1975, the Togliatti branch was created. In 1992, the branches became independent. In 1994, the main institute was reorganized into a joint-stock company OAO GIAP [1] .

During the USSR, 8 branches were formed under the GIAP [1] :
- Severodonetsky, which had a pilot plant,
- Dzerzhinsky, who had a pilot plant,
- Dneprodzerzhinsky, which had a pilot plant,
- Kemerovo,
- Novomoskovsk, which had a pilot plant,
- Chirchik,
- Grodno,
- Tolyatti.
Awards
In 1976, the GIAP was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor [1] .
Activity
JSC GIAP conducts research in the field of technology design for the production of ammonia, methanol, acetylene, hydrogen, nitrogen fertilizers, adipic acid [1] .
In the entire history of GIAP created 70 aggregates of ammonia. As of the XXI century, 22 ammonia units with a capacity of 450,000 tons per year are operating. 12 units of nitric acid AK-72 [1] .
