Goodnews Bay (Alaska)

The city is located on the north coast of the Gudnews Bay, at the mouth of the Gudnews River, 187 km south of Bethel , 180 km northwest of Dillingham and 640 km west of Anchorage ^[2] . The area of ​​the city is 9.6 km², all of which is land ^[1] .

The city was incorporated on July 9, 1970 ^[3] .

According to the 2000 census, the population of the city was 230 people ^[4] . Racial Composition: Native Americans - 92.61%; whites - 5.65% and representatives of two or more races - 1.74%.

Of 71 households, 45.1% raised children under the age of 18, 31.0% were cohabiting couples, women lived without husbands in 23.9% of families, 32.4% did not have a family. 32.4% of the total number of households at the time of the census lived independently, while 4.2% were single elderly people aged 65 years and older. On average, 3.24 people are households, and the average family size is 4.04 people.
