Content
History
The canton was formed as a result of the reform of 2015 [1] . It included the southern quarters of the city of Calais , most of the abolished canton of Gin and individual communes of the cantons of Ardr and Devre .

Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast in the 1st round of Marine Le Pen 35.0% of the vote against 18.8% of Jean-Luc Melanson , 17.1% of Emmanuel Macron and 15.1% of Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, Le Pen won the canton, receiving 55.0% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Francois Hollande - 28.3%, Marine Le Pen - 26.1%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 23.1%; 2nd round: Hollande - 54.5%).
Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Department of Pas de Calais by Mayor of Ardre Ludovic Loquet ( Republican and Civil Movement ) and member of the city council of Calais Caroline Matrat ( Socialist Party ).
