Polshkov, Mikhail Konstantinovich

Mikhail Konstantinovich Polshkov (11/21/1913, p. Yakonovsky glass factory of the Vyshnevolotsky district of the Tver province - August 5, 1978, Moscow) - Soviet geophysicist, laureate of the USSR State Prize .

From a working family. He graduated from the Geophysical Faculty of the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute (1936).

In 1936–1941 he was an engineer of seismic surveys in the Far North, a graduate student at the Research Institute of Arctic Geology.

Member of the Great Patriotic War , an officer of the Baltic Fleet .

From 1943 he worked in the Central Research Laboratory "Geophysics". In 1947, he was appointed director of the Applied Geophysics Research Institute (All-Russian Research Institute of Geophysics) organized on its basis and spent more than 30 years in this position (since 1975, the general director of the Soyuzgeofizika scientific production association).

Candidate of Technical Sciences (1944), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1960), the topic of his doctoral dissertation "Establishing processes and resolution of seismic equipment." Professor (1963).

The organizer and the first head (1975-1978) of the Seismometry and Geoacoustics Department of the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University. He read the course "Seismic".

Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on geophysical research methods, member of the Interdepartmental Council on Seismology and Earthquake Engineering at the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

State Prize of the USSR (1971) - for the work on the fundamental improvement of seismic exploration for oil and gas. He was awarded the Order of Lenin (1948), the Labor Red Banner (1971), "Badge of Honor" (1948), and ten medals. Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR .

He was buried at the Kuntsevo cemetery .
