Biography
Kirill Vladimirovich Gusev was born on November 20, 1922 in Petrograd, in the family of an employee. In 1940 he graduated from high school and in September of the same year he was called up for military service in the Red Army . He began his service in the 70th Kazapevich border detachment of the Khabarovsk district, where he received the rank of corporal . In the fall of 1942, he submitted a report on his transfer to the army and was sent to the Central Front as part of the 6th Infantry Regiment of the 102nd Division. In the winter of 1943 he was wounded in battles near the city of Dmitrovsk-Orlovsky , as a result of which he received a disability - an amputation of his toes was made. After treatment at the hospital, he was demobilized, went to the newly liberated city of Tikhvin, Leningrad Region. He persistently sought to return to the besieged Leningrad and in the autumn of 1943 received special permission and a pass to enter the besieged city through Lake Ladoga. In Leningrad, he worked in various positions.
