History
Urban history has more than 750 years. After the conclusion of a peace treaty in Prenzlau in 1479, Uckermark , including Strasbourg, finally retired Brandenburg . In the 17th century , due to wars , urban fires and plague, the population of the city at times decreased to 200 people. With the settlement of 244 French Huguenots expelled for their faith, who received the corresponding electoral privilege on January 5, 1691 , the indigenous population of Strasbourg consisting of about 170 people at once becomes a minority in their own city, but at the same time the economic prosperity of Strasbourg begins. The French surnames of the descendants of these Huguenots to this day are often found among the inhabitants of Strasbourg. In the era of industrialization , by the end of the XIX century , the city joins the German railway network . At the end of the Second World War , in 1945 , the city was 55% destroyed and rebuilt in 1950/60. With the dissolution of land in the GDR in 1952, Strasburg departs to the district of Neubrandenburg and becomes the main city of the eponymous land region .
In 1990, Strasbourg joins the newly formed Mecklenburg-Vorpommern land and, in the course of the management reform of 1994, becomes part of the new Ikker-Rand district, losing the residence of the district administration in favor of Pasevalc . Although the main part of the Ukkermark during the formation of federal lands was transferred to Brandenburg , Strasbourg remained in Mecklenburg - Vorpommern on the basis of a decision taken by citizens in 1991 after a special vote . Since March 1, 1995, the official name of the city is Strasburg (Uckermark) . Since 1991, the city has been thoroughly repaired as part of a federal program for promoting urban planning. Since the beginning of the nineties, Strasburg accepted hundreds of immigrants from the countries of the former USSR and for some of them became a place of permanent residence and a new homeland.

Attractions
- St. Mary’s Lutheran Church is the oldest building in the city, whose construction lasted from 1250 to 1280 years . In the late Middle Ages, the central building of the building was transformed into a Gothic style. Initially, the building was planned to be built with two towers, but as a result only the south tower was erected. The absence of the north tower is still clearly visible in the general structure of the building. In 1837, the south tower was covered with a roof in an emergency order and in its current form does not reach its original height. The hall freely accommodates several hundred people. The church has an organ on which music is performed during worship services and regular church concerts. Since August 1, 2004, the Lutheran community gathering in the church of St. Mary for Sunday services is headed by pastor Rainer Schlicht.
- The 36-meter high water tower was built during the construction of a central water supply system in Strasbourg, launched in 1928 . Currently there is a hotel and a Greek restaurant.
