Carrera y Carrera (Carrera and Carrera) is a jewelry company created in the 1970s in Spain by the brothers Manuel and Juan José Carrera and leading its history from the jewelry house founded in Madrid in 1885 by their ancestor, the jeweler Saturio Esteban Carrera . The central office is located in the Madrid area of San Agustin del Guadalix .

History
The history of the company begins in 1885 , when Saturio Esteban Carrera, having moved from the city of Alcalá de Henares to Madrid, opened a small jewelry store there in the Barrio de las Letras region [2] . His son, Jose Esteban Carrera , studied jewelry in Paris and returned to Madrid in 1920, where he continued his father’s work. He transferred the traditions of craftsmanship to his four nephews - Jose, Saturio, Pedro and Andres.
In 1960, the jewelry house received an order for the production of wedding tiaras for Fabiola de Mora and Aragon on the occasion of her marriage to the King of Belgium Baudouin , which brought her to a new level and gave international fame. In the 1970s, the great-grandchildren of Saturio, Manuel and Juan Jose Carrera, combined their efforts, created the brand Carrera y Carrera .
In 1979, the company entered the American market; in the 1980s, it began to develop other international markets. In 1994 it appeared in Russia, in 2013 the first store in China opened. Jewelry and watches from Carrera and Carrera are sold in more than 40 countries, including New York, Tokyo, and the United Arab Emirates [3] .
During its existence, the company has changed several owners [4] . In 2000, Miriam de Ungria and Princess Tarnovo joined the design team.
In 2001, 58% of the house was transferred to the Spanish porcelain producer , and by 2006 its share had increased to 100%. In 2010, the company was acquired by a group of Russian investors who wished to remain anonymous [5] . In early 2013, the brand was put up for sale by the Russian Sberbank announced the search for a buyer. According to Andrei Ananov, president of Russian Jewelry Art, Russian businessmen simply failed to manage the company. “If Carrera retired, and therefore sold his brainchild, then this is the case when they bought a plant, and they cannot work without a manager,” he noted [5] .
In 2013, the brand's founder, Manuel Carrera , returned to creating collections [6] . His son, Manuel Carrera Cordon, in 2005 created his own company, continuing the tradition of the family - MC Virtuti . Since 2014, she has been making figurines for the Golden Eagle film award, presented by the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia [7] .
In 2015, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the company, Russian director Renata Litvinova made a short film in her own script, The Case of Madrid with Mrs. K., in which she starred in the title role.
Products
The company produced jewelry in a combination of shiny and matte gold . The difference in details was achieved by the fact that a layer of varnish was applied to pre-polished gold in those places that were supposed to remain shiny. In 2010, the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences introduced the Maha de las Goya nomination: the Carrera and Carrera Ring Award is given to the most elegant actress present at the Goya Award Ceremony. She was marked by Goya Toledo , Lydia Bosch , Blanca Suarez , Maribel Verdu [9] [10] [11] [12] .

The average check at Carrera y Carrera stores ranges from € 2.5 to € 7,000. In 2010, the company's revenue was € 20 million, in 2011 - € 27 million, for 2012 it was forecasted in the region of € 30 million [5] .
