Geography

Eagle Village is located about 13 km west of the Canadian border, on the banks of the Yukon River , near the town of Eagle . The area of ​​the statistically isolated area is 49.5 km².

In the spring of 2009, the village was almost completely destroyed as a result of severe flooding caused by ice jams on the rivers.

Population

According to the 2000 census, the population of the isolated area was 68 [1] . Racial composition: Native Americans - 44.12% and whites - 55.88%. The indigenous population of the village is represented mainly by the Khan people.

Of the 32 households in 25.0%, children under the age of 18 were raised, 25.0% were married couples living together, 12.5% ​​of families had women without husbands, 56.3% were non-families. 43.8% of the total number of families at the time of the census lived on their own, while 3.1% were single elderly people aged 65 and over. The average household size is 2.13, and the average family size is 3.00.

The proportion of persons under the age of 18 is 25.0%; persons aged 18 to 24 years old - 5.9%; from 25 to 44 years old - 39.7%; from 45 to 64 years old - 25.0% and those over 65 - 4.4%. The average age of the population is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 119.4 males; for every 100 women over the age of 18 — 142.9 men.
