Biography
Born on January 6 ( January 18 ), 1892 in the village of Klekotki, Epifansky district of the Tula province (now Skopinsky district of the Ryazan region) in the family of a sales clerk.
In 1910 he graduated from school as an external student, in 1916 - the engineering and land reclamation department of the Moscow Agricultural Institute . As a student, he worked in the organizations of the Land Improvement Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and State Property: in 1912 - in the Moscow Department (temporary technician), in 1913 - in the Kursk-Oryol Department (temporary technician), in 1914-1916 - in the Volga Survey Party (temporary hydrogeologist). After graduation in 1917, on behalf of the Commission for the Study of Phosphorites, he conducted geological surveys in the Volga region, in 1918-1919, on behalf of the Land Reclamation Department of the People's Commissariat of Economics, he worked as a hydrogeologist in Moscow , Penza and other provinces. In 1920-1929 he was an assistant in hydrogeology at the engineering and land reclamation department of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and at the same time in 1920-1930 he taught at the Department of Hydrogeology of the Moscow Mining Academy (assistant, associate professor). Since 1933 - professor.
In 1930-1933 - Dean of the Hydrogeological Faculty of Hydrogeology of the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute; in 1931 he was appointed head of the department of hydrogeology of the faculty. [1] Member of the Great Patriotic War .
At the same time as pedagogical and scientific activity in higher educational institutions of the USSR he performed production and research work in other institutions: in 1918-1926 he worked in the People's Commissariat of Agriculture , in 1926-1931 in the Moscow Geological Prospecting Department, in 1931-1934 - in the VODGEO Institute, in 1935-1939 - at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences, in 1939-1949 - at the VSEGINGEO Institute. Since 1950, Kamensky was an employee, and since January 1956, he was the director of the Laboratory of Hydrogeological Problems of the USSR Academy of Sciences named after F.P. Savarensky.
On January 25, 1941, by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission, Kamensky was awarded the scientific degree of Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, and on October 23, 1953 he was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Geological and Geographical Sciences (hydrogeology and engineering geology). [2]
The production and research work of Kamensky was associated with the objects of hydro construction: the Volga-Don Canal; irrigation system of the Caspian lowland; channel them. Moscow; Solikamsk, Kuibyshev and Stalingrad hydroelectric facilities; Rybinsk and Uglich reservoirs. In the 1930s, he developed the principles of hydrogeological survey of semi-arid regions of the Syrt Trans-Volga region.
The main works of Kamensky relate to theoretical hydrogeology (filtration properties of rocks, issues of regime, dynamics, zonality and the formation of groundwater).
In the 1930-1950s he developed: laboratory and experimental field methods for the distribution of hydrogeological parameters (together with N. N. Binder and G. V. Bogomolov); the theory of groundwater movement in heterogeneous formations (together with K. I. Razin and N. A. Korchebokov); theory of groundwater movement; a methodology for studying the unsteady movement of groundwater and quantifying the regime and balance of groundwater using the finite difference method; the methodology for constructing new hydrogeological maps of water conductivity and the dynamics of groundwater reserves (together with I.V. Garmonov). [one]
To determine the filtration coefficient, he created a number of devices, including a field device, called “Kamensky Tubes” [3] .
He published textbooks: “Search and exploration of groundwater” (1947) [4] , “Hydrogeology of mineral deposits” (together with P. P. Klimentov and A. M. Ovchinnikov) (1953). [one]
Vice President of the International Association of Hydrogeologists. [five]
In 1940-1947 he was a deputy of the Moscow Soviet , from 1950 to 1952 he was a deputy of the Krasnopresnensky District Council of the city of Moscow.
He died on July 17, 1959 in Moscow. He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery (5 site, 40 row). Next to him are the wife of Evgenia Nikolaevna (1896-1965) and daughter - Anna Grigoryevna (1925-1992). [6]
