Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin ( born Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin , born July 13, 1946 , Los Angeles , California , USA ) is an American comedian of Mexican descent who gained fame and popularity by participating in the comic duet " Cheech and Chong ".

Biography and career
Parents are Oscar Marine, a policeman, and Elsa Melsa, a secretary. Marin graduated from the University of California at Northridge.
Although parents were highly cultured people, Chich remained a street Hispanic teenager.
As a child, Chich Marine created a musical group, collecting it from classmates. Composing songs, Chich became interested in poetry even more than music. Then the verses became parody, began to turn into prose, puns, sketches. In the 1960s, as an adversary of the Vietnam War , Marine sets off for Vancouver , where he meets Tommy Chong . In 1968, the comic duet “ Cheech and Chong ” was born. He began with five-minute appearances at a club owned by Chong. A few years later, Cheech and Chong acted as a warm-up team during the American Rolling Stones tour. And in 1972, they received a Grammy in the nomination "Best Album in the Musical Comedy Genre." In 1984, the duo broke up.
In the 1970s - married, along with his wife adopted a girl from the shelter.
Also, in 1998 he participated in the recording of KoRn 's Follow the Leader album.
