Biography
Born in the city of Ulan-Ude . His parents, being from the Ulyanovsk region , came to Siberia, fleeing hunger in the Volga region, to build the Verkhneudinsky PVRZ . Father - Ivan Igorevich Zhidyaev, was a cabinetmaker. Mom - Anastasia Mikhailovna (nee Telegin), worked as a nurse in a hospital.
1954-1959 - Viktor Zhidyaev studied at the Irkutsk Art College. His teachers were V.N. Lebedev (student of Konstantin Korovin ), A.P. Zhibinov (student of Pavel Filonov ) and S.I. Vinogradov.
1959 - as a student, he created a series of illustrations for the book by A. M. Grachev “Forest rustles”.
1959-1963 - worked as a teacher of the graphic arts department at Ulan-Ude Pedagogical School No. 1 (specialties: painting, drawing, composition); At the same time he worked as an artist in the publishing house of the newspaper Buryaad Unen .
The years 1963-1964 were connected with the Ulan-Ude television, where Viktor Ivanovich worked as an artist. During this period he created several animated films.
1964-1970 - was the director of the production at the People’s Theater in the village of Petropavlovka, Dzhidinsky District , where he was sent by the Ministry of Culture of the Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
In 1970, he returned to teaching. He worked as a teacher of drawing, painting and composition at the art-graphic department of the Pedagogical School No. 1 of the city of Ulan-Ude. He taught students not only to draw, but also to think, feel art through classical music and theater. He was one of the first to introduce his students to modern trends in art (surrealism, pop art, abstract art, European avant-garde), which was quite innovative at that time, and even more so in distant Siberia. His style and methods of working with students, who greatly respected Viktor Ivanovich, were not accepted by other teachers and artists, since socialist realism was respected at that time, so in 1982 he had to leave school.
In 1971, Zhidyaev founded the Palette art studio. 1972-1973 - studied at the Faculty of Continuing Education at Oryol State University . In 1979, at the request of the chief architect of the city P.G. Zilberman, he headed the Society of Amateur Artists from the RSMC (Republican Scientific and Methodological Center), which was created by enthusiast and art critic A. Tchaikovsky. Original artists Lubsan Dorzhiev, Tsyren-Namzhil Ochirov, Victor Konechnyh were engaged in this studio. It is interesting that the work of Victor Konnechnyh entered the Italian World Encyclopedia of Primitive Artists.
From 1982 to 1992, Viktor Zhidyaeva worked at the Children's Art School of the city of Ulan-Ude.
In 1982, the Ecorshe Experimental Creative Studio was created. The studio was attended by such artists as Timur Manzheev, Nikolai Dudko, Vladimir Pospelov, Leonid Semenov, Sergey Vershinin, Stanislav Sambuev, Yuri Nevsky, Alexander Ishigenov, Victor Utenkov - now these are recognized artists, theater artists, icon painters of Orthodox and Buddhist icons, designers writers. His Ecorshe studio held exhibitions during the years of "perestroika" , which largely repeated the fate of the "bulldozer" exhibitions of the Moscow "thaw." Studio participants exhibited their work in the walls of the Youth Art Theater of Ulan-Ude. The main director of the theater, Anatoly Borisovich Baskakov, was always happy to host young artists, staged experimental performances, his theatrical works were criticized more than once, so he knew like no other that young artists needed support.
Viktor Ivanovich Zhidyaev himself throughout his life did not find recognition among official artists in Soviet and post-Soviet times. Repeatedly presented his work for entry into the Union of Artists, but all his attempts were in vain. Only in 1996 he was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of Buryatia and it became possible to exhibit his works.
