Jovan Mushkatirovich ( Serbian. Jovan Muškatirović ; 1743, Senta - 1809, Buda or Pest ) - Austrian Serbian lawyer, teacher, folklorist and scientific writer.

Born on the territory of the Austrian Military Border . From 1764 to 1766 he studied at the Protestant Lyceum in Bratislava , then by 1769 he received a law degree at the University of Pest. In 1773 he became the first Serbian lawyer in the Austrian Empire. He was influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment , advocated the development of education among the Austrian Serbs and the fight against superstitions. Subsequently, he was a member of the Pest city council, wrote in German, Hungarian, Romanian, Serbian and Latin, as well as in Old Slavonic.
He is best known as the compiler of a collection of Serbian proverbs (published in Budin, 1807), reprinted by Dobrovsky in Slovanka (Volume II, 67–94, Prague, 1815, with a German translation and philological notes). He also owns, “A brief reflection on the feast” (Vienna, 1786) and “Discourse on the fasting of the Eastern Churches” (Vienna, 1794).
