Freudiana is Eric Wolfson's first solo album and the actual last studio album of the English band The Alan Parsons Project , released in 1990 . The album was planned as the 11th studio album of The Alan Parsons Project, but in the process of working on it, Eric Wolfson, influenced by producer Brian Browley, decided to transform it into a rock opera , with the possibility of further stage production as a musical , which premiered on December 19 1990 at the An der Vin Theater in Vienna . The successful rental (by April 1992 the production was attended by more than 320 thousand spectators) was overshadowed by a lawsuit between Browley and Wolfson for the right to own the project. Despite the fact that the court sided with the producer, authorship was assigned to Wulfson.

As a result, the album was released under the name “ Freudiana ” and is considered the unofficial last album of The Alan Parsons Project, released by the traditional line-up of artists who participated in recording the previous albums of the group. Shortly after finishing work on the album, Wolfson left the band, focusing on stage activities. Alan Parsons , already under his own name, continued to release albums similar in sound to the latest albums of The Alan Parsons Project.

About the album
Soon after finishing work on the Gaudi album, Eric Wolfson got excited about the idea of releasing an album dedicated to the life and legacy of Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud . To this end, he decided to walk the scientist’s life path, visiting Freud’s museums in London and Vienna, and studying in detail his classical works, which became the basis for the compositions of the future album. In addition, Freud’s works on the discovery of the “unconscious” were based on the concept of the album. , his famous theories, including the Oedipus complex , the ego , the subconscious, and probably Sigmund Freud's most famous work, The Interpretation of Dreams .
The album was released in two versions: “White Album” and “Black Album”. “White Album” includes 18 tracks and is the most accessible nowadays. "Black Album", containing materials from the German version of the musical, is currently rare. On this album, Wolfson is first listed as an artist. In general, “Freudiana” is almost entirely composed by Wolfson, while Parsons was involved in mixing the album, recording only one track on it.
