Global Brigades (from the English - “World Brigades”) is the largest student [1] international non-profit organization, which aims to improve the welfare of rural communities in poor countries by attracting volunteer students.

In 2011, 4127 students from many universities participated in Global Brigades programs [2] . Teams of students usually consist of at least 30 people who work for 7–10 days in the community to help the local population, and after this period are replaced by another working team [3] . As a rule, one university provides volunteers for a separate community for 3-4 months. The main efforts of the brigades are concentrated in Honduras , Panama , Nicaragua and Ghana [1] [4] [5] .
The organization has developed 9 targeted programs, according to which volunteers in developing countries work and solve a particular social problem [2] [6] .

When the community reaches a positive balance in these areas of life, Global Brigades leaves the community and turns its activities into another.
