Damiano Caruso ( Italian: Damiano Caruso , born October 12, 1987 in Ragusa , Italy ) is an Italian professional road racing cyclist , who has been playing for the Bahrain – Merida World Tour since 2019. In 2008, he won the Italian Youth Road Cycling Championship. He started playing as a professional in the second half of the 2009 season, playing for the LPR Brakes-Farnese Vini team . In October 2011, the Italian National Olympic Committee suspended Caruso from racing for a period of two years, due to the 2007 doping scandal. The punishment was issued retroactively and since February 2012 he was able to speak, but all the races of 2011 were canceled.
