Lopukhin, Avraam Vasilievich

Representative of the noble family of the Lopukhins . The son of Lieutenant of the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment Vasily Avraamovich Lesser Lopukhin (1746-1821) and Alexandra Petrovna, nee Princess Gagarina (1747-1777). He was related to the writer V.V. Izmailov ( Izmailov’s wife was E.V. Lopukhina, half-sister of Avraam Vasilievich).

He was enlisted in the service in 1786 in the Preobrazhensky regiment, in 1796 he was released from the sergeants of the guard into the army as captain. However, he did not stay in the army for long. In 1800, he received the rank of court adviser , but "was listed out of work." In 1802, he was appointed adviser to the Moscow Treasury, where he served until 1804. By his order and with his participation, the famous architect A. G. Grigoriev in 1817-1822 built a manor in Lopukhinsky Lane in Moscow, which is currently a unique monument of the Moscow Empire ^[1] and where the L. N. Museum is currently located Tolstoy .

Wife - Vasilisa Fedorovna (died March 10, 1892) ^[2] .

A.V. Lopukhin is known as a popular poet and translator of his time. V. A. Zhukovsky spoke of him as a poet with undeniable talent ^[3] . He actively collaborated in contemporary editions of Ipokren or the Pleasures of Lovingness, News, Russian Literature, A Friend of Enlightenment , Reading for Taste, Mind and Feelings , Pleasant and Useful Time Spending. The author of several books, there are romances in his poems.

He began his literary activity by translating and publishing in a prose translation from French the big sentimental-idyllic poem by Mertgen “Susanna, or The Triumph of Innocence over the Slander of Two Evil Israeli Judges”, L. also included the translation of Mertgen’s idol “Roses” in this edition ( M., 1791).
