Pechkina Coffee Shop is a literary coffee house in Moscow , which operated in the middle of the 19th century.

History
The coffee house was located near Theater Square , not far from the Pechkin tavern. The founder was I. A. Bazhanov (hereinafter the test of P. S. Mochalov ). The work of Pechkin Coffee Shop fell on the period of the peak of the salon-circle culture of the Russian Empire (1830s - the middle of the XIX century). In fact, it was a kind of intellectual club, an “oral journal” for talking about literature and theater news. Pechkin’s coffee houses gathered and participated in improvised productions, dialogues, scenes by V. G. Belinsky , A. I. Herzen , T. N. Granovsky , V. I. Zhivokini , Mochalov, A. N. Ostrovsky , P. M. Sadovsky , M.Schepkin . Pechkina's coffee house anticipated the appearance of theatrical skitties, small-scale theaters of the early 20th century. According to A.F. Pisemsky , it was “the most intelligent and witty place in Moscow” [1] . A. A. Fet wrote about her like this: “Who knows how much Pechkin’s coffee house has spread true love for science and art throughout Russia”. In addition, the coffee house served Ostrovsky as a prototype of the tavern in the third act of the play “ Profitable Place ” [2] .
