Biography
Born December 8, 1939 in Kemerovo . In 1961 he graduated from the Radiophysical Department of Tomsk State University. V.V. Kuybysheva specialty "radio physics and electronics". In 1963 - 1966, V. L. Mironov studied at the graduate school of TSU . By the decision of the Academic Council of TSU on January 11, 1968, the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences was awarded. From 1961 to 1970 he worked as a senior researcher at the Siberian Physical-Technical Institute of Tomsk State University. From 1970 to 1979, he was a senior researcher and head of the laboratory group at the Institute of Atmospheric Optics, Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1979 - 1980, V. L. Mironov was deputy chairman of the presidium of the Tomsk branch of the SB RAS of the USSR and head of the laboratory of the Institute of Atmospheric Optics, Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
March 28, 1980 Mironov Valery Leonidovich was awarded the degree of Doctor of Physics and Mathematics. From 1980 to 1982, he worked as a professor and head of the department of Altai State University . In 1982 - 1986 - deputy director of the Institute of Atmospheric Optics and head of the department of this institute. December 21, 1984 Mironov V.L. was awarded the academic title of professor in the specialty of radiophysics. From July 7, 1986 to March 31, 1997, V. L. Mironov served as rector of Altai State University . As a visiting scientist, he worked at the University of British Columbia ( Canada ) in ( 1997 - 1998 ), at the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska ( 2001 ) and at the University of Michigan ( 2002 ).
Scientific and teaching activities
Currently, V. L. Mironov heads the Laboratory of Remote Sensing Radiophysics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the base department at the Siberian State Aerospace University . V. L. Mironov is a specialist in the field of physics of the propagation of laser and radio wave radiation in the atmosphere and lithosphere, radio wave dielectric spectroscopy of moist soils, soils and rocks, radiophysical methods for diagnosing natural environments. He is the author of 450 scientific works, of which 12 monographs and 18 copyright certificates and patents, prepared 15 candidates and 6 doctors of sciences.
At the Institute of Atmospheric Optics SB RAS, Mironov investigated the patterns of fluctuations in laser radiation in a turbulent atmosphere and developed the scientific basis for laser sensing of atmospheric turbulence. The results of his research were used by him to develop a complex of optoelectronic equipment. V.L. Mironov created a laboratory for remote sensing radiophysics, developed a fundamentally new method of microwave dielectric spectroscopy. He was the first to create physical dielectric models for thawed and frozen soils, which are used in the algorithms of the European spacecraft SMOS for remote sensing of land moisture.
