Mendel Kossoj ) - Polish Communist of Jewish descent, general of military intelligence and state security. Activist of the Jewish youth movement and the communist underground . Member of the Civil War in Spain , a prisoner of war of the Second World War . One of the intelligence leaders of the Polish Army . Head of the intelligence department of the Ministry of Public Security . He was subjected to political repression during the internal struggle in the PUWP . After his release, he commanded the Internal Security Corps and internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland . Suspended during anti-Semitic campaign .

Communist activist. War Member
Born in the family of a Jewish saddler . In 1924, Mendel Kossoy joined the Hashomer hazair , and in 1926 the Polish Communist Party . He was a member of a communist battle group, in which he participated in the killings of secret police officers. In the underground, he used the nickname Kutsik , Herbert , Pavel , Nestor , Sailor , Gypsy [1] .
In 1927 - 1933 he was in the USSR , where he joined the CPSU (B.) And underwent special training at the courses of the Red Army and OGPU - NKVD . Took the name Vaclav Komar .
The mosquito took part on the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War , including the battle of Guadalajara and the defense of Madrid . After the defeat of Poland at the beginning of World War II and the German occupation, Komar served in Polish units in France in 1939-1940 , fought with German troops , and was captured. He was released from captivity in April 1945, after which he became deputy chief of the Polish military mission in France.
In intelligence and state security. Arrest
In December 1945 he returned to Poland. He took the post of head of the intelligence service of the General Staff . Since June 1947, he combined military service with the service at the Ministry of Public Security (IOB), led the joint intelligence system. From July 1947 to June 1950 - Head of the VII Department of the International Security Forces (foreign intelligence) [2] . In July 1951 he headed the quartermaking of the Polish Army.
On November 11, 1952, Vaclav Komar was arrested during a party purge [3] . Tortured during the investigation. Released on December 23, 1954 , shortly after the disbandment of the MOB. In 1955 - 1956 he held business positions, was the director of factories in Warsaw .

On August 24, 1956 , the Komar brigade general was appointed commander of the Internal Security Corps .
In October 1956, Komar subordinates of the formation largely determined the outcome of the political crisis, which was accompanied by the VIII plenum of the Central Committee of the PUWP . Parts of the Corps advanced to Warsaw, demonstrating to Nikita Khrushchev and Konstantin Rokossovsky the readiness for a force clash. The result was the strengthening of the position of Vladislav Gomulka in the process of Polish de-Stalinization [4] . For his role in these events, which coincided chronologically with the Hungarian uprising , Vaclav Komar was compared with Pal Maleter [5] ; with the difference that, unlike Nadia and Maleter, Gomulka and Komar succeeded.
From August 1959 to June 1960, General Komar also commanded the internal forces. Since June 1960 - Director General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the NDP [6] . He was awarded a number of Polish, Czechoslovak , East German , Yugoslav and Italian awards.
Resignation and demise
On February 15, 1968 , during the anti-Semitic campaign , Vaclav Komar was dismissed. The last years of his life was retired.
Died at the age of 62. He was buried in the Military Ponzki cemetery.
Interesting Facts
The son of Vaclav Komar - Michal Komar - a famous Polish filmmaker and journalist. Politically, Komar Jr. is known for anti-communist views. In Poland, Michal Komar was associated with the dissident movement - the Committee for the Protection of Workers , the Confederation of Independent Poland , and the Polish Independent Agreement [7] . In the 2010s, he supported President Bronislaw Komorowski .
