Luke Donald ( Eng. Luke Donald ; December 7, 1977 , Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire , England ) - English golfer, who led the world ranking among golfers. Professional since 2001 . He mainly plays in the PGA Tour tournaments, but is also a member of the European Tour .

Luke Donald had an outstanding 2011, when he won a number of tournaments and sports awards. He won the PGA prize race, and also won the European Tour Race in Dubai, thereby becoming the first player to win in both races simultaneously in the same calendar year ^[1] . He was named Player of the Year PGA and Golfer of the Year European Tour. He also became the first Englishman to become the PGA Tour Player of the Year, winning the Verdon Trophy and the Mark McCormack Prize for the largest number of weeks at the top of the world rankings during the calendar year. Later, he was awarded the title of honorary life membership in the European Tour for the achievements of 2011.

In May 2011, Donald became number one in the world ranking among golfers after winning the BMW PGA Championship. He led the world ranking of 40 weeks, until he was briefly headed by Rory McIlroy . In the next two months, this pair of golfers exchanged the title of the best golfer 4 times. May 27, 2012 Luke returned to the top spot after successfully defending his title at the BMW PGA Championship. He lasted another 10 weeks among the leaders in the world rankings, until Rory McIlroy finally removed him from there. In total, Luke led the world table of ranks for 56 weeks and spent more than 200 weeks in the Top 10 ^[2] . He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2012 for his services in golf ^[3] .
