Story
Quentin “Kew” Jacobsen lives next door to Margot Roth Spiegelman, his childhood friend, with whom they have little contact recently, but he still has feelings for her. Once, shortly before graduation, Margot suddenly invited Quentin to take part in a “punitive” operation. The fact is that her already ex-boyfriend cheated on her for several months with her friend, and the rest were silent. After revenge, Margot and Quentin go to the bank, where Margot is "his own." Looking out the window, Margot tells Kew that this is all a paper city, paper people and hints that she is a paper city. The next day she does not appear at school, as well as the next few days.
Gradually, Kew finds Margot's clues and discovers that she is in New York State. Together with his friends, the girl of one of them and the only friend of Margot, who did not betray her, he goes for her lover. On the road, the guys are incredibly close. They find the place where Margot should be, but they do not find her there. Quentin tells friends to go to graduation, and he tries to find a girl. But, dropping his hands, he buys a bus ticket and unexpectedly meets Margot. She was surprised that he came here, because she left these prompts to explain that nothing happened and everything was fine. Quentin finally admits Margo in her feelings for her, but she says that he cannot love and understand her, because she herself does not even know what she is for. Putting Kew on the bus to the house, Margot offers him to stay with her, but he refuses.
Kew arrives home, goes to the prom and realizes that his happiness is his friends. At the end, the farewell of three friends leaving for college is shown. At the same time, Quentin talks about Margot. She was in New York as an actress, then in Malibu as a surfing teacher. But Quentin says that he knows nothing more about her, because he no longer follows the rumors ...
