History
The city estate of the Magnificent was built in the 18th century. The territory was owned by the merchant S. Ivanov. In 1782, the main building was rebuilt. In the documents of that time it is called: "a stone building with a porch in the cellars." In 1812, the estate was badly damaged by fire and only the walls remained from the main building. In 1817, the urban resident Fyokla Velikolepova took possession of the territory and, at her request, the main house was repaired. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the property was controlled by the Makhovs, the Moscow merchants. On their initiative, the first floor of the main building was redone to accommodate a commercial premises - a store [1] .
After the 1917 revolution, residential buildings with communal apartments were made on the estate. In office buildings various organizations are located. From the 1970s to the 1980s, the main building and the estate territory became part of the Main Directorate for the Protection of Monuments of the City of Moscow. They conducted on-site repair and restoration work. In the late 1980s, lions were placed at the entrance. They used to be at the gate in the “ Anna Mons House ”, built in the 17th century. However, during the construction of one of the buildings for the plant of the Scientific Research Institute of Precision Instruments, the gates were dismantled and the lions dismantled. The director of the plant saw that they were lying in boxes on the street, and insisted that they be given to the Main Directorate for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture of Moscow [1] .
In the XXI century, the Department of Cultural Heritage of the City of Moscow works in the main house [1] .
Architecture
The estate had a main building, an outbuilding, a two-story building made of stone, and service houses. In 1817, the main house is designed in the style of classicism. Then a mezzanine is built of wood. The service houses were completely burned down, because stables, storage rooms and sheds were erected in their place. Outside, at the entrance to the main house, there are lions made of white stone [1] .
