General Information

The men's singles tournament brought together ten representatives of the Top-20 of the world ranking (five of them were among the Top-10). Both leaders of the ranking came to the tournament: last year’s winner of the tournament and the first number in the world Novak Djokovic and the second racket of the world Rafael Nadal . The Spaniard could not reach the decisive match, losing in the quarterfinal to Slovak Martin Klizjan , who made his way to the tournament through qualification. As a result, the winners of the last five draws of the tournament met in the final: Djokovic, who won the tournament in 2009-10 and 2012-13, and Tomas Berdykh , who was able to win here in 2011. As a result, the Serb managed to defend his league title and win the local competition for the fifth time. Two representatives of Russia took part in the tournament: Teymuraz Gabashvili and Mikhail Yuzhny . Both tennis players lost in the first round.

In the men's doubles, the first two seeded couples ( Nenad Zimonich and Daniel Nestor , as well as Alexander Peyia and Bruno Soares ) lost already at the start of the tournament. Last year's winners Maxim Mirny and Horia Tekeu did not defend the title, however both took part in the tournament. Mirny paired with Feliciano Lopez lost in the quarter-finals to the fourth seeding numbers for Julien Benneto and Vasek Pospisil . Tekeu, speaking with the representative of the Netherlands, Jean-Julien Royer, was able to win the competition for the second year in a row. Royer and Tekeu also won the second tournament in a row, winning the week before this tournament in Shenzhen . In the final, they outplayed the offenders of Mirny and Lopez: the Frenchman Benneto and the Canadian Pospisil. One representative of Russia Teymuraz Gabashvili took part in the competition, who, together with the representative of Kazakhstan, Mikhail Kukushkin, lost at the start of the tournament winner.

The women's single tournament brought together almost all the strongest tennis players in the world: out of the top ten, there was only the fifth racket in the world, Chinese Li Na , who in September announced the end of her sports career. [1] Serena Williams, the leader of the rating and last year’s winner of the tournament, reached the quarter-finals, but didn’t reach the match against Samantha , referring to a knee injury [2] . In her absence, the title was played in the final by the third and fourth racket of the world: Czech Petra Kvitova and Russian Maria Sharapova . As a result, Sharapova won. The representative of Russia wins the competition for the first time since 2009. In addition to her, four more Russians took part in the tournament, the best of which Svetlana Kuznetsova reached the quarter finals, where she just lost to Maria Sharapova.

The women’s doubles went to the fifth seeded at the tournament, Andrei Glavachkova and Peng Shuai . In the final, they beat last year's tournament winners Karu Black and Sanya Mirza. Peng won the local competition for the second time, before which she won in 2009 with Taiwanese representative Xie Shuwei . The first seeded couple in the tournament, the Italian duo of Robert Vinci and Sara Errani , reached the quarter-finals. Two Russians took part in the competition and both went to the semifinals: Alla Kudryavtseva did this together with Anastasia Rodionova , who represents Australia, and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova together with Kristina Mladenovich from France.
