Ganzhou ( wh. Ex . 甘州 , pinyin : Gānzhōu ) - the area of urban subordination of the city district of Zhangye , Gansu Province ( China ). The name of the area comes from the medieval region, whose authorities were located in these places.

History
In the era of the Warring States in these places lived Usun, Yuezhi, then these places took control of the Huns. Under the empire of Western Han during the times of the emperor Wu Diunnu , Kho Qujbin was defeated, and these places were annexed to the Han empire; in 104 BC er Zhangye County (张掖 郡) was created. During the dictatorship of Van Man, he was renamed Sheping (设 屏 郡) in the year 9, but after the establishment of the Eastern Han Empire, his former name was returned to the district in the year 27. In 144, the county was badly damaged by a powerful earthquake.
Under the Western Jin Empire, Yongping County (永平 县) was established in these places.
In 397, Duan E proclaimed the formation of the state of Northern Liang in these places. In 439, Northern Liang was conquered by the state of Northern Wei . After the collapse of Northern Wei, these places from 534 turned out to be part of the state of Western Wei . In 554, the Zhangye district was renamed the Ganzhou region (甘州); the hieroglyph “Gan” (“sweet”) was chosen as the name of the region because there was a spring in these places whose water had a sweet taste.
Under the Sui Empire, in 583, Yongping County was renamed Jiuquan (酒泉 县), and in 606, Zhangye (张掖 县).
Under the empire of the Later Liang in 911, Ganzhou was conquered by the Uighurs, who in 928 submitted to the State of Late Tang . In 1028, the Tangut created the state of Western Xia , and these lands became part of it. Later, the Tangut state was destroyed by the Mongols and these lands became part of the Yuan Empire; Marco Polo stayed in Ganzhou during his trip to China.
Under the Ming Empire in 1372, the Gansu Guard (甘肃 卫) was located in these places. When the Qing Empire in 1724, the county of Zhangye was created again.
In 1949, the Special District of Zhangye (区 区 区) was created, and these lands became part of it. In 1950 it was disbanded, and these lands became part of the Wuwei Special District (区 专区).
In 1955, the Jiuquan Special District and the Wuwei Special District were merged into the Zhangye Special District. In 1958, Linze County was divided between Zhangye and Gaotai counties, and Zhangye county was transformed into Zhangye city. In 1961, the city of Zhangye was disbanded, and the county of Zhangye was re-established.
In 1970, Zhangye Special District was renamed Zhange District (张掖). In 1985, Zhangye County was transformed into Zhangye City County.
By the decision of the State Council of the PRC of March 1, 2002, the Zhangye district and the Zhangye city district were disbanded, and the Zhangye city district was formed; The territory of the former city district of Zhangye became the Ganzhou district in its composition.
