Trude Dothan ( German Trude Dothan , nee Trude Krakauer , German Trude Krakauer ; October 12, 1922 , Vienna - January 28, 2016 ) - Israeli archaeologist of Austrian origin, winner of the Israel Prize .

Prior to retiring, she was a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. It is considered an authority in the archeology of the Philistine period , especially their ceramics. Her classification of Philistine ceramics, despite criticism, was generally widely accepted as the basis for dating Philistine finds.
Content
Biography
Born into a Jewish family in Austria. At the age of 10, the whole family emigrated to Mandatory Palestine . In the mid 1940s She began her studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and in 1945-1946. first took part in excavations in Beit Hyeres . In 1948-1950 served in the IDF , participated in the Israeli-Arab war of 1948, which did not prevent her from defending her master's thesis in 1950. In the same year she married Moshe Dotan , also a famous archaeologist.
During military service, she managed to take part in excavations in Tel Casil , where she first encountered the culture of the Philistines , to which she devoted most of her learned career. In 1961 she defended her doctoral dissertation. The following year she received a permanent position at Hebrew University. From 1977 to 1982, she headed the archaeological department of this university. She has also been a guest lecturer at Princeton , Brownian , California Universities and at the New York Institute of Fine Arts ( en: New York Institute of Fine Arts ). He takes part in the management of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem . In 1998, Labor Dotan was awarded the Israel Prize in Archeology [4] .

- Afienou ( Cyprus ), with the participation of Amnon Ben-Thor, 1971-1972
- Deir al-Bala , 1972-1980
- Ekron , with the participation of Seymour Gitin, 1982-1996.
