The 1st Red Banner Air Army (1st VA) is a front-line aviation association designed to accomplish combat missions (combat operations) in cooperation (in joint operations) with other types of the USSR Armed Forces of the Far Eastern Military District , as well as conducting independent air forces operations .

Formation History
The 1st Air Army , which existed during the Great Patriotic War in 1949, was renamed the 26th Air Army .
The second formation of the 1st Air Army was begun in 1957 on the basis of the 29th Air Army and the 54th Air Army [1] [2] [3] .
On April 30, 1975, the 1st Air Army was awarded the Order of the Red Banner by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
It became part of the Russian Air Force .
In connection with the ongoing reform of the Armed Forces on May 1, 1998, it was renamed the 11th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense .

In 1982, the 33rd aviation division of fighter-bombers was formed :
In 1985, the 187th separate assault aviation regiment was formed at the Chernigovka airfield of the Primorsky Territory. In October 1989, the 33rd Aviation Division of fighter-bombers was disbanded. |
In 1994, the 303rd Aviation Division of fighter-bombers was disbanded. |
The 28th Fighter Aviation Division was disbanded in 1998. |
