The Golovin city estate - an estate in Moscow at 8/12 Potapovsky Pereulok , Building 5. An object of cultural heritage of federal significance [1] .

History

For a long time, the owners of the estate were nobles from the side branch of the Golovin clan. At the beginning of the XVIII century, the owner of the estate was Vasily Golovin, perhaps he inherited it from his father, the stolnik Vasily Petrovich Golovin. He was a chamber junker under Catherine I , but later fell out of favor, and his career failed. In Moscow, Vasily Vasilievich spent only the winter, and the rest of the time - the family estate Novospassky . After death, the estate passed to his son, then it was inherited by descendants of Golovin mainly along the male line [2] .

The two-volume main house of the estate is located on the corner of Potapovsky and Sverchkov Lanes. Facing the last part of the building dates from the end of the XVIII - the beginning of the XIX centuries. The construction of the main volume in the style of classicism was carried out in the 1810s with a break caused by the war of 1812. The interior decoration of the building was completed by the 1830s. The front facade overlooking Potapovsky Lane is decorated with a Corinthian portico of six columns, standing on a white stone basement. The portico is crowned with a triangular pediment , in which the Golovin coat of arms was possibly located. The first floor is lined with rustic . The facade was decorated with stucco medallions with ribbons located above the semicircular windows between the columns of the portico, in the frieze and on the side facades. The Greek-style frieze in the form of a meander was supposedly added in the middle of the 19th century. To the left of the house are adjacent gates, which preserved the original lattice in the Empire style . The pylons of the gate made of white stone are decorated with niches with pairs of ionic columns, between which, probably, were statues or flowerpots [2] .

In the 1880s, Victor Frolov, a merchant of the second guild, acquired gold in the Old Gostiny Dvor . In 1894, the state councilor Nikolai Belyaev became the owner of the estate, until 1917 it was owned by his heirs. After the revolution, the estate was occupied by various institutions [2] .
