Geography
According to the US Census Bureau, East York has an area of 7.5 square kilometers. The area is a suburb of York and is 3 km from the center of York. East York is part of Springsbury Township.
Population
According to the 2010 census, the population of East York was 8777 people (of which 47.1% were men and 52.9% were women), the area had 3694 households and 2355 families. Racial composition : white - 88.7%, African - Americans - 4.1%, Native Americans - 0.2%, Asians - 4.2% and representatives of two or more races - 1.5%. For 2014, the population of East York was distributed by origin as follows: 6.2% - American, 42.7% - German, 12.5% - Irish, 11.1% - Italian, 6.8% - English origin [ 2] .
The population of the city by age range according to the 2010 census was as follows: 20.3% - residents under 18 years old, 2.6% - between 18 and 21 years old, 54.4% - from 21 to 65 years old and 22.7% - at the age of 65 years and older. The average age of the population is 45.0 years. For every 100 females in York, 88.9 males were accounted for, while for 100 adult females there were already 85.1 males of comparable age [2] .
Of the 3,694 households, 63.8% were families: 50.4% of couples living together (17.2% with children under the age of 18); 9.1% are women living without husbands and 4.3% are men living without wives. 36.2% did not have a family. On average, 2.29 people lead a household, and the average family size is 2.86 people [2] .
Economics
In 2014, out of 7037 people over 16 years old, 3901 had jobs. At the same time, men had a median income of $ 49,253 a year, compared to $ 48,274 of the average annual income for women. In 2014, the median income for a family was estimated at $ 72,911, for a household - at $ 61,711.
