Crater Lander ( lat. Lander ) - a large ancient impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the English traveler Richard Lander (1804-1834) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1976. The formation of the crater dates back to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The immediate neighbors of the crater are the Dobrovolsky Crater in the northwest; Volkov crater in the north; Patsaev crater in the southeast and Tsiolkovsky crater in the southwest [3] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 40.1 km [4] , depth 2.2 km [1] .
Crater Lander has a close to circular shape and is significantly destroyed over a long period of its existence, possibly partially covered by rocks ejected during the formation of the Tsiolkovsky crater. The shaft is flattened, the Volkov J satellite crater is adjacent to the north-eastern part of the shaft, and the Lander K satellite crater to the southeastern part (see below). The inner slope of the shaft is somewhat wider in the eastern part. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1030 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 1200 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is relatively flat, with slight uplifts.
