Gorbachikha (Kiev)

Gorbachikha ( Ukrainian: Gorbachikha ) - a natural boundary in the city of Kiev ( Dneprovsky district ), an object of environmental protection fund with an area of 82.8 hectares [1] , located on the left bank of the Dnieper , bordered by Rusanovsky Gardens (from which is separated by a dam - Dam Street ) , the Desyonka River ( Chertora duct [2] ) is washed from the west , and the Gorbachev sleeve from the south . It is the last and only preserved site of the flooded forests of the Kiev left bank, which were completely destroyed during the development and development of the left bank of the city. The name of the tract probably came from the Dnieper Gorbachev - the canal between the tract and Dolobsky Island [3] .

The creation of dams of the Kiev and Kanevskaya hydroelectric power plants helped to slow down the flow of the Dnieper, thereby fixing the outlines of the Dnieper islands and natural boundaries. Until the 1990s, the only result of human activities on the territory of the Gorbachikha tract was a concrete slab road built after the end of World War II (similar to that on Trukhanov Island ) to connect pontoon bridges if necessary to quickly cross the Dnieper along the route: Rybalsky Peninsula - Trukhanov island - the tract Gorbachikha.

In 1993, the construction of the Podolsky bridge crossing began , which should connect the right and left banks of the Dnieper (the Rybalsky Peninsula area with the Voskresenka massif). According to the approved project, part of the 7-kilometer trestle of the bridge crossing must pass through the Gorbachikha tract [4] .

In 1994, a decision was made by the Kiev City Council No. 14, according to which the tract Gorbachikha was included in the list of valuable natural territories and objects that are reserved and protected. This decision was reflected in the Program for the integrated use of the land zone of the city of Kiev until 2010 and the published Master Plan of the city of Kiev until 2020. Nevertheless, in 2007, by the decision of the Kiev City Council, the tract Gorbachikha was given for development, but later this decision was canceled by the District Administrative Court [5] .
