“Letter from the 45th” (in Russian) is a finalist song ( 1983 ) of the “Song of the Year” television festival in the USSR , then in Russia . The author of the music is Igor Luchenok , Soviet and Belarusian composer , teacher , People's Artist of the USSR ( 1987 ).
The author of the words is Mikhail Yasen (real name Mikhail Aronovich Goldman) is a Soviet and Belarusian songwriter .

It was first broadcasted on December 30, 1983 ^[1] to the accompaniment of the CT and BP pop and symphony orchestra , conducted by Alexander Mikhailov, performed by the People's Artist of Belarus , Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Yaroslav Evdokimov and the Moscow Youth and Student Choir (winner of the Lenin Komsomol Prize) , x / r prof. Boris Tevlin ( Honored Artist of the RSFSR , laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize) at the Ostankino concert studio in the final concert of the Song of the Year All-Union Television Festival of Soviet Songs.

It is important not to forget about the exploits, about great victories, about the difficult front roads of fathers and grandfathers. So that the young generation knows the truth about our ordinary people - with what thoughts they went into battle, why they did not spare either their blood or their lives in order to bring the long-awaited Victory closer.

The poems and songs of Mikhail Yasen, the soulful, lyrical poet, are known and loved until now, although many of his works are devoted to the military theme. The high patriotic sound marked the military poetry of this man. It depicts the heroism of people, praised the invincibility of the national spirit.

Perhaps there is no more emotional "report" from the distant times of World War II than songs by Mikhail Yasen. “Letter from the 45th”, “May Waltz” and dozens more, written by Mikhail Aronovich in collaboration with the best Belarusian composers.

Mikhail Yasen sincerely and with great feeling talks ^[2] about the history of his creation, as he believes, of the best song. It is called "Letter from the 45th":

“Honestly, I don’t remember how I came to my main, wonderful song. Somewhere in the archive, her draft with my first name, “Look at how young I am,” has been preserved. The song is anti-war, romantic and at the same time patriotic, in which the willingness to defend the Motherland to the end was combined with a tremendous love of life, where the fierce battles in which the youth perished took place during spring, sunny, blooming ... It was a testament song: take care peace, a beautiful world around us, to save life ... Somewhere in my subconscious, on a hunch, the lines, plot and rhythm of the song came and lined up. Probably, this was when I was looking at my, military years, photos ... I don’t remember. I only remember that it was in 1982, in the fall, and maybe in 1981 ... "

The author read a poem to his great friends Vilya and Alla Khmelnikov. They were moved by what they heard. They advised to give the work to Igor Luchenk. ^[2]

“At home, I thought, long and painfully. After heavy deliberation, I called Luchenka and suggested poems. He immediately said: - Bring it! “We began to work.”

Romantic images do not exclude vivid realistic features, and this is the strength of the poetry of Mikhail Yasen. A classic example of such a symbiosis of romantic and realistic is the “Letter from the 45th”, where the heroic deed of the war heroes is sung. The fiery love for the native home and for the whole Motherland, the subtle poetry of the soul, devotion to the land and people outgrow in anger, courage, and intransigence when it comes to enemies:

And we again went to where the shots were ,
Where the explosions of bombs and mines are an ominous howl .
Let's go forward to withstand, to survive
Even at the worst price .

This is a synthesis of courage and courage of a warrior-patriot.

Subsequent generations will learn from the work the heroic time of the war, the era of the eradication from the face of the earth of the most terrible misfortune in the entire history of mankind - fascism:

The earth was groaning in blood, in conflagration ,
And we fought a fierce battle for life
And comrades fell to the ground
And everyone was just as young .

The climax is gaining especially high ideological and emotional content:

I'm talking to you from forty-five
Take a look at the picture: I'm alive on it .
Do not let the damned war again!
May the sky above you be peaceful!

Fascism inflicted tremendous damage on the country, but the spirit of the people did not break. On the contrary, in the battle with the enemy revealed the high moral qualities of the immortal people, who defended the right to life and happiness. The beautiful fills the earth again:

We should live and live, live and love
Take care of this world on earth!

The poem is polyphonic, like a piece of music. The rhythm and melody of the narrative, despite the small size of the work, is diverse and changeable.

From the memoirs of M. Yasen: ^[2]

“One day, Luchenok informed me that he decided to give a song to Yaroslav Evdokimov, then the soloist of the BVO ensemble, who performed it.”

Not every good text can “sound” in a way that will be perceived by the song. Such a secret is known to Yaroslav Evdokimov . Performed by the Honored Artist of the Belarusian SSR Yaroslav Evdokimov, the work acquired a special aesthetic power and beauty. Although the “Letter from the 45th” was very difficult for Yaroslav Evdokimov. A lot of strength, patience and endurance were required from the performer in order to firmly “dock” the recitation and chanting parts of this work and to achieve high quality of its sound during recording on the radio. ^[3] The performance of Yaroslav Evdokimov is considered the best. ^[four]

“Once I had a chance to sing in Borovlyany, in the hospital for invalids of World War II. Sang to them this very ... "Letter from the forty-fifth." There is a terrible silence in the hall. In the hall - people without arms, without legs. They looked at me and ... cried. I didn’t finish it… I didn’t finish it completely, I burst into tears ... After that I live these songs so much - I see those eyes of soldiers mutilated by the war ... ”

A sincere song-appeal with light pain touches the soul of both the performer and the listeners. She captivates, captures with harsh truthfulness. There was a flood of rave reviews on radio and television.

“Once Ales Staver and Luchenok drove me home by car. “Do you understand,” said Ales Luchenko, “what kind of music for the song did you write?” It was published by all republican newspapers: Soviet Belarus, For the Glory of the Homeland, and others. ”

The names of the People's Artist of Belarus and the USSR, Honored Art Worker of Belarus and Poland, Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Belarus, All-Union Lenin Komsomol Prize, State Prize of Belarus, International Trade Union Award, composer Igor Luchenka are widely known in different countries of the world. He inscribed a bright page in the history of song culture of the 20th century, created colorful and informative works that reflected the breath of the era and the impulsive life of contemporaries. Songs of I. Luchenka entered the treasury of the Belarusian musical culture, revealing a new facet in this genre of musical art. His works are performed by artists of the Belarusian and Russian pop art, they constantly sound both in the composer's homeland and far beyond the borders of Belarus.

Igor Luchenok works in different genres - vocal-symphonic, chamber-instrumental, chamber-vocal. The main figurative sphere of his work is lyrical and romantic. Music is characterized by melodic and national identity. The composer's works touch the most hidden strings of the heart, awaken good, light and love. His songs glorify the family, paternal home, beloved Fatherland. The song “Letter from the 45th” firmly entered the classics of songs about the Great Patriotic War. For more than thirty years, this pearl of songwriting, and it is still included in every home, glows with the love of youth.

More than once the company "Melody" published this song. For the first time, Yaroslav Evdokimov recorded it on a record. (I. “Somehow, the newspaper Pravda placed a band about a concert of the wonderful singer of the USSR People’s Artist Boris Zaitsev. The culmination of the concert was the song “Letter from the 45th,” which was sung by the blind and on Zaitsev’s dentures. ”

Meanwhile, the song "Letter from the 45th" was becoming truly popular and overgrown with legends. The Izvestia newspaper published the article under the same heading. It described how an American war veteran, having heard this song in Chicago, got excited and decided to find his fighting friend from Russia. Friends who met on the Elbe in 1945, 40 years later see each other again, thanks in part to the song. ^[2]

Mikhail Yasen recalled: ^[2]

“The song brought me nothing but deep and very important satisfaction, the consciousness of a duty fulfilled to those with whom he fought together in a formidable time for the Motherland!”

The song "Letter from the 45th" passed the severe test of time, forever entered the anthology of masterpieces of songs about the Great Victory. Today it is the property of art.

The title of the work, which conveys dramatic content, became the name of the book of songs and poems of the poet, as well as radio programs and headings.

At the suggestion of Mikhail Finberg, the poet translated the song ^[7] into the Belarusian language for performance by the vocalists of the State Concert Orchestra of Belarus.
