Career
Nelson began his hockey career playing for the hockey team at the Warrod High School, later enrolling at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks and spent two seasons at the university team playing for the Western Student Hockey Association (WCHA). Brock also became a nominee for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award, an award given to the best state player among high school students. In the 2010 NHL Draft, he was selected at No. 30 by the New York Islanders Club. [1] Nelson began his professional career with the Islanders, on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers team of the American Hockey League (AHL), in the 2011/12 season he took part in the Calder Cup playoffs .
Nelson made his debut in the NHL during the playoffs in the spring of 2013. He scored his first point in the NHL on October 8, 2013 in a winning meeting with the Phoenix Coyotes , assisting Peter Regin. [2] He scored his first goal on October 22, 2013 through Roberto Luongo in the match against Vancouver Canucks . In September 2015, he renewed the contract with Islanders for 3 years with an average salary of $ 2.5 million per year. May 23, 2019 signed a new contract with Islanders for 6 years, the salary for the season will be $ 6 million [3] .
International Career
In 2011, he played with the US youth team at the 2011 World Championship among youth teams , where he won a bronze medal as part of the team.
Also, as part of the US team, he participated in four world ice hockey championships and in 2015 won bronze medals.
Personal life
Brock's uncle, Dave Christian , took part in the 1980 Olympic team at Lake Placid , where he won gold medals and played in the same match, which was later called a miracle on ice . His grandfather Bill Christian, along with his cousin Grandfather Roger Christian, became the 1960 Olympic champions in Squaw Valley , playing for the US team. Another cousin, Gordon Christian , as part of the US team won the silver medal at the 1956 Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo . [four]
